Come and explore the amazing downtown of South Haven while enjoying the elegance of a historic premier hotel. Hotel Nichols is located .5 miles away from the public beach in the heart of the shopping district.
Built-in 1874, this casual, 2-story hotel in downtown South Haven is a 16-minute walk to the beach and 1.4 miles from Interstate 196. Straightforward rooms with vintage, country-style decor all include private bathrooms and air-conditioning and have free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and minifridges. Apartments add living rooms and full kitchens. Free perks include garage parking for bikes and motorcycles, and coffee, tea, and snacks throughout the day.
We are big believers in being good neighbors. Be respectful and friendly and everyone will have a great time!
Quiet hours are from 11pm to 8am. We do patrol regularly, but if a guest is being problematic do not hesitate to call us! If they are bothering you, they are likely bothering others!
Our store is open from 9am until 10pm on weekends, 9am to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 6pm Sundays. We have firewood, ice, amazing grilling meats from Stanton Farms, Palazzolo's Ice Cream, basic camping equipment, toiletries, beverages and more!
For reservations there is a minimum 2 night stay required, 3 night stay for during holidays. If sites/cabins are still available within a week of your desired vacation, we will allow shorter stays on cabins/campsites. Just give us a call to check! We also always hold a minimum of 5 primitive sites for walk-ins off the trail!
Cancellations made more than 7 days prior to arrival (14 days for major holidays and festivals) are due a full refund. Cancellations made within that 7 day window will be charged for the 1st nights stay, with the remainder refunded. Cancellations made the day-of arrival and early check-outs will not be refunded.
Fires are allowed only in designated rings/pits. Please do not move our fire rings! If you do, you will be charged $25 to clean up and repair the damage caused.
Due to state and local regulations, no outside firewood is allowed within the campground. We do offer bundles for sale at our store. We also can sell bulk firewood if you plan to burn a lot but please, plan ahead as we do not always have this on hand!
We love our woods and wish to preserve them. Thus, we ask that no one cut or bring anything out of the woods to be burned.
Pets are allowed everywhere on our property other than in the store and bathrooms. You are responsible for your pet at all times. Pets are required to be leashed at all times. Please clean up any messes left by your pets!
Check In Time: 4 pm or later. Early check in may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your arrival for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for arrivals prior to 2 pm for Cabins/Cottages.
Check Out Time: 11 am or earlier. Extended check out may be possible, just check with the office on the day of your departure for availability. There is an additional 1/2 day charge for Cabins/Cottages for extended departures at 2:00 pm or later. If one remains after 4:30 pm, a full nights rate is charged.
We include bedding, pillows and towels in all of our cabins for your convenience! If you desire additional pillows or bedding for the pull-out couch and are not paying for the extra people we charge $10 for use of the set. We can have it in your cabin and ready for you if you plan ahead!
Family cabins sleep up to 8 people (couples cabins 4) depending on your comfort level. The daily rate includes up to 6 people (2 for couples). There is an extra charge for any extra people of $10/person/day.
No open flame cooking allowed in cabins.
No Smoking allowed in cabins. There is a $250 cleaning fee if smoking noted in cabin/cottage.
You as our guest are responsible for any and all damage done during your stay. The financial amount will be determined by the Kal-Haven Outpost based upon the time and material cost to repair said damages.
Our cabins allow pets. All damage that is associated from the pets will be the responsibility of the guest.
We allow up to 6 guests per primitive site and 8 per RV site. If you are found to be in violation of this, you will be charged for an additional site for each night of your stay. We suggest no more than 2 medium sized tents on primitive sites, but more are possible if they fit within the confines of your site.
We also allow 1 tent on an RV site for an additional fee provided you do not exceed the 8 person limit.
Please, be respectful and clean up after yourselves. If excessive garbage is found on your site, you will be charged $20 per hour to clean up (we really don't want to have to do this, just be a good neighbor and all is well!)
Thank you for booking with us! Of course, we will be going above and beyond to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Below you will find a detailed description of how we will be changing our operations to meet the latest guidelines and ensure everyone's risk is minimal.
We ask that guests observe social distancing at all times, wear masks within the bathroom facility whenever possible and use alternating sinks and toilets to enable proper social distancing. Furthermore, if you are in an RV we ask that you refrain from using the restrooms unless necessary. This will help reduce everyone’s potential for exposure, and help keep the restrooms clean for those that do not have another option. We will have hand sanitizer and gloves available at our dump station. As this may slow down the process of leaving somewhat, we will allow you to check out as late as 12pm, or potentially later as needed at no charge.
Guests can always come into our store with a mask for check-in of for purchases. We are also offering contactless check-in. If you prefer that method, simply give us a call at (269)206-0900 and we will check you in remotely and can direct you to your site. If you want firewood, ice, or any other items from our store please call to order and we will happily deliver these items to you if you do not wish to visit our store in person. We are creating a folder with images of all of our inventory so that you can virtually browse our products. This will be on our facebook page in a folder titled "store stock".
In conjunction with the addition of hand sanitizer stations, we plan to spray-sanitize the restrooms frequently. This will include cleaning as-needed to ensure the bathrooms remain as clean as possible. We will also be closing the bathrooms in an alternating manner starting at 3pm to enable our enhanced cleaning protocols per CDC recommendations. Our cabins will also have hand sanitizer available and will be cleaned per CDC recommendations after every guest.
